Jackie Whiting

Jackie’s exposure to yoga and meditation began as a teenager; however, the realities and responsibilities of adult life moved to the forefront. While she maintained an active lifestyle, she stopped practicing for 10-15 years as her training primarily centered on running. After traveling extensively and moving around the world, Jackie returned to yoga in 2003 with intermittent classes primarily as an adjunct to her running. Her passion for yoga began to build in 2011 after sustaining an ankle injury that prevented her from running, and she began a consistent training program in Bikram. Since returning to North Carolina in 2013, she expanded her training to include Vinyasa, Yin, Hot Yoga, and Restorative. Jackie completed her RYT 200 certification in Psychologically Informed Yoga ™ (PIY) to include Yoga Nidra via Vivasana Yoga Studio in Naples, FL.
PIY is a strength-based yoga system that is sensitive to the emotional well being of individuals, always puts people before postures, and approaches yoga as a collaborative experience between practitioner and client. PIY is expansive, dynamic, and embraces and honors elements from both ancient yoga philosophies, and more contemporary concepts of psychological wellness, neuroplasticity, and the somatization of stress. |
